Asbestos and Vermiculite Testing

For the Home Buyer

When your home inspection identifies materials that may contain asbestos, it can be scary.  The first step is learning what dangers the specific material can pose on you and your family.  Some materials can simply be left, undisturbed without significantly effecting your health.  Other materials (like insulation) are more likely to be disturbed and release asbestos fibers into the air you breath.  Lab testing is the only way to positively identify the presence of asbestos in building materials and  Helder Home Inspections is trained in sampling with fast, economical results to cause minimal delay to your purchase.

For the Home Owner / Renovator

Before you embark on a renovation that can disturb asbestos and release fibers into the air, it is a good idea to have materials tested.  Materials that may contain asbestos are things like ceiling tiles and floor tiles manufactured before 1980.  If you have a concern and would like testing, I’d be happy to review pictures of the materials in question and let you know whether I would recommend testing.
